Roof soffit

Roof soffit assembly is not required by construction standards, but in most buildings it is used due to many advantages of such a solution:

  • effective roof finish and a wide range of applications,
  • the ability to mount lighting,
  • protection of the roof structure from atmospheric conditions,

To meet customer expectations, Galeco offers an innovative roof soffit made from a highly durable type of polyvinyl chloride. The PVC soffit is available in many fashionable colours, making it easy to match the panels to the roof covering.

In addition to easy installation and above-average durability, the PVC soffit requires no extra maintenance, unlike wooden soffits. The structure is very light and does not add unnecessary load to the roof. Thanks to convenient panels that are easy to install, fitting even large and irregular surfaces is quick and straightforward.

Popularity of PVC roof soffit

Because of the advantages listed above, PVC roof soffit is now one of the most frequently chosen solutions. Its modern aesthetics and stylish design make polyvinyl chloride soffit suitable for both new and traditional buildings, as well as classic and modern arrangements.

High production quality and excellent durability allow PVC roof soffit to withstand summer heat, strong winds, heavy rainfall and severe frost, creating an attractive roof finish for many years.

Installation

  • Galeco NOVA soffit panels are installed perpendicular to the building wall. Installing the panels parallel to the wall may cause bulging and deformation of the elements.
  • The Galeco NOVA soffit system is installed under the rafters and to wooden battens with a minimum size of 25 x 50 mm.
  • The battens should be dry and impregnated. The distance between adjacent battens should not exceed 40 cm.
  • NOVA soffit elements should not be installed in places exposed to long-term direct sunlight, such as the building facade.
  • The soffit should be installed at an ambient temperature above 5°C.
  • The “J” mounting strip should be fixed to levelled battens around the full perimeter of the built-in eaves using screws at least 18 mm long and with a head diameter of at least 8 mm. Screws should be fixed perpendicular to the batten in the centre of the mounting hole, leaving about 1 mm clearance between the head and the strip hole to allow thermal movement. The distance between consecutive fixings should be about 30 cm.
  • Soffit panels cut to the required width should be inserted into the installed “J” strips, perpendicular to the facade. Each next panel should be inserted and clipped into the lock of the previous element.
  • Leave about 5 mm clearance between the panel edge and the mounting strip wall to allow thermal expansion of the panel.
  • It is recommended to use every third perforated panel to ensure optimal roof and eaves ventilation. Soffit panels should be fixed to the battens with screws.

Storage

  • Soffit elements should always be stored in their original bulk packaging: cardboard boxes and plastic bags.
  • It is recommended to store soffit elements under a roof.
  • System elements should be supported along their full length, and the stacking height should not exceed 1 m.
  • Storage temperature should not exceed 50°C.
  • Do not store loose soffit in places exposed to direct sunlight, as this may deform the elements.
